  Dark Ascension Was released in February of 2012 and is the second set of the Innistrad block. It continues the themes of zombies, humans, werewolves and the supernatural. Total it is a 158 card set that still has flip cards and new mechanics such as undying and fateful hour.
 
  Innistrad is a new realm released in September of 2011, which features vampires, werewolves, and spirits. It is the first set that feature transformation flip cards, and brings back some classic planes walkers and the flashback mechanic. A very dark theme that looks to feature the horror genre and monsters and is sure to be a classic.
 
  Released in July 2011, this is another Core Set. The set features a new cycle of planeswalkers, the old titan cycle, and a handful of graveyard cards. The set features the introduction of hexproof, and the return of the popular mechanic blood lust.
 
  Released in May 2011, New Phyrexia is the last set of the Scars block. It introduces the new mechanic Phyrexian mana, and continues with the themes of proliferate, living weapon, infect, and metalcraft.
 
  This is the second set from the reboot of the Mirrodin Block. featuring metal craft and infect as well as new mechanics such as living weapon and battle cry. It is a small set of 155, but is sure to have a large impact on standard
 
  Scars of Mirrodin was released in October, 2010. It is the first in its block, which will feature predominately artifacts. New features for this set include bringing back poison as infect, and metalcraft.
 
  This core set offers classics for the veteran players as well as tons of new cards that will be classic for sets to come. With the Scry ability being re-introduced and caring on many of the M10 cards, M11 will be sure to be a favorite of fans for years to come.
 
  Rise of the Eldrazi was released in April, 2010. It is the third set of the Zendikar block and is a large set consisting of 228 cards plus 20 basic lands. It features a few new mechanics with its colorless non-artifact spells and annihilation ability.
 
  Worldwake was released in February of 2010, and is the second set released in the Zendikar block. It expands on the mechanics of Zendikar, with Landfall, Allies, Multikicker, Trap, and Quests. Worldwake also features Animated lands, the popular full-art lands, as well as the rare lands which can produce two colors of mana.
 
  Zendikar was released in October 2009, and leads off the Zendikar Block. Zendikar introduces new mechanics such as Allies, Intimidate, Landfall, Quests, and Traps. They are also the first of the block to contain the popular full-art lands.
 
  Magic 2010 core set was released in July 2009. Unlike other core sets, M10 is only 50% reprints and 50% new cards, including the new mythic rares and Planeswalkers.
 
  The last set of the Alara Block, Alara Reborn is the first set to have only multicolored cards. This set also introduces the popular cascade mechanic that will change how the game is played.
 
  The second set out of the Alara block released in February 2009. A smaller set that continues the strong multicolored format that was established in the first set.
 
  The first set of the Alara Block released in October 2008. Shards introduced the new Mythic rarity and established a strong base of multicolored spells.
